Seattle radio host Jason Rantz blamed the media in part for not asking tough questions about a teacher's strike that started this week. During his 770 KTTH show Thursday, Rantz railed against teachers and the media.
According to The Seattle Times, the Seattle Education System went on strike Wednesday, demanding "reasonable workloads" and "respectful pay."
Rantz said the teachers are "leaning into the striking posture and claiming that the strike is all about the kids."
"You are being manipulated not just by teachers but by media outlets that frame all of this in ways that are never critical of the claims coming from teachers unions," said Rantz.
Rantz insisted that local media outlets could push back with questions that center on why the striking teachers aren't negotiating while they are still in the classroom.
"Do you ever hear those questions being asked? Seriously, have you ever heard those questions being asked? I would happily ask those questions but of course, they are not going to come on the show."
As of Thursday, Rantz said a mediator was helping with the negotiations to speed up the process to get kids back into the classroom.
Rantz added that educators should have learned from the pandemic and some of the damage virtual learning did to children.
