On Sunday afternoon, Ray Didinger signed off 94 WIP for the final time. It was the end of a 21-year run with the station and with co-host Glen Macnow. That leaves a tremendous void in the station's weekend lineup. A replacement plan may be in place soon.
According to Crossing Broad, the station plans to use a separate co-host for each weekend shift to partner with Macnow. WIP appears to be nearing naming Jody McDonald, a frequent partner with Macnow, as his co-host for the Sunday shift. As for Saturdays, the name mentioned is Mike Sielski from The Philadelphia Inquirer.
These two announcements haven't been made official, but sources told Crossing Broad that "this thing is approaching the finish line". It's also being written that an announcement might be coming as soon as this week.
If this does become the pairings, it will feature combinations that the Philadelphia audience is familiar with and is likely comfortable with hearing. Macnow has said on the record that he has been appreciative of Rod Lakin, WIP's brand manager, and WIP management's openness to involving him in the replacement search process.
