The first round of the NFL Draft saw a massive audience tune in across ESPN, ABC and NFL Network, but the numbers show a dip compared to 2021.
According to Front Office Sports, the first round averaged 10.03 million viewers, which is down 20% from the 12.5 million that watched last year.
A record 15.3 million caught the 2020 NFL Draft, which was all virtual that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year's telecast faced direct competition against the NBA Playoffs, as well as a potential lack of interest because there were no prominent quarterbacks in the 2022 class. Kenny Pickett out of the University of Pittsburgh was the lone QB drafted in the opening round, being selected 20th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
