Details emerged on Wednesday of Sinclair Broadcasting Group's plans for its new regional sports streaming service Bally Sports+.
Over on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Kevin Hageland and Cory Mageors offered their reaction.
"I think there are people that are going to meet that quota that Bally wants to get, and that's going to be enough for them," Mageors said. "I think there's going to be a lot of hardcore fans that lose that are like, 'I'm 26 years old and I got all these bills to pay. And that's not in my budget.'"
Sinclair said Bally Sports+ will cost $19.99 a month or $189.99 per year, which is actually a few bucks cheaper than what was speculated to be the cost.
Currently, Sinclair only has streaming rights with five MLB markets: Kansas City, Detroit, Miami, Milwaukee and Tampa. The Texas Rangers play in the Dallas Metroplex and Bally Sports is the team's regional sports network.
Hageland agreed that there will obviously be people who have no problems signing up for the service. He said it becomes another way people can access the team.
"The option is there. If you don't like the options, fair enough," he said. "But your options are you sign up for Spectrum, sign up for DirecTV, pay for this app every single month, or don't watch. Like, that's a pretty good amount of options. And I know it's not perfect, but at least it's another option."
Mageors just wished there was a simple solution so that you could watch the games on TV. Finding an app or having difficulty even finding the channel can be annoying, and Mageors said it should really just be one option to watch.
