Craig Carton had some fun at the expense of a caller on Tuesday who was hoping to talk to Michael Kay. Lynne in Manhattan dialed up Carton & Roberts on WFAN thinking she was calling in to the Yankee broadcaster's radio show on ESPN New York. Carton acted like he was Kay.
"I'm in Toronto, but I'm on the air," Carton said. "What can I do for you today, doll?"
Lynne did have a question for Kay about why he didn't want to have Alex Rodriguez on to talk about his PED use, saying that A-Rod lied to former WFAN host Mike Francessa about his drug use. She also wondered why Kay didn't ask former Met Carlos Beltran about the Astros sign-stealing scandal.
Carton answered that Kay didn't press either athlete because he wanted to keep his job.
Lynne at one point during the conversation seemed to be on to Carton.
"You know your voice doesn't sound like Michael's. I don't know," Lynne said. "Maybe you're having a good time at this expense."
Carton answered that it's because he's just getting over COVID. He asked Lynne if she ever listened to Carton and Roberts, and even suggested she start doing that.
"You should listen to the other show, Carton & Roberts on The Fan, for like five days straight and that's it," Carton said still acting like Kay. "Then call me back and let me know if you liked their show."
This isn't the first time someone has called WFAN looking to talk to Michael Kay. But Carton had his fun and Lynne was a good sport.
