On August 29th we drove the 45 minutes east to Bastrop State Park to see if the two Liatris species that grow there but not in Austin were doing their thing. Turns out we were a bit too early: we saw plenty of Liatris aspera plants but almost all of them had only gotten to the point of budding. Still, a few buds had begun opening, and I was able to make the portrait below. If you look carefully, you may notice a spider's leg.

The National Archives (NARA) possesses about 5,400 emails and records linked to President Donald Trump's email aliases, the House Oversight Committee revealed Monday evening.
The email aliases — "Robert Peters," "Robin Ware," and "DJT Ware" — were used to share government information and discuss business with Donald Trump Jr. and associates, according to the Southeastern Legal Foundation, which filed a lawsuit to compel the agency to turn over the emails.
"All too often, public officials abuse their power by using it for their personal or political benefit. When they do, many seek to hide it," Southeastern Legal Foundation general counsel Kimberly Hermann told Just the News in a statement. "The only way to preserve governmental integrity is for NARA to release Trump's nearly 5,400 emails to SLF and thus the public. The American public deserves to know what is in them."
