The Sims 4 is as popular as ever, with a never-ending stream of expansion packs being made available by EA, as well as community content. Some people may prefer to live out life as a Sim but others enjoy it for the ability to design things. With so much capability, the controls can be complicated – and one thing people often get stuck on is how to make items bigger in The Sims 4.

How to resize an object in The Sims 4

There are different methods, depending on whether you're using a computer (Windows or Mac) or console version of the game:

Whichever platform you're using, you first need to be in Build mode (selected from the toolbar in the top right-hand corner)

Now select the object that you wish to resize
On Windows or Mac, hit the Shift and [ or Shift and ] keys to make the item smaller or larger
On PlayStation hold L2 and R2 and then tap either the left or right buttons on the D-pad to resize the object
On Xbox hold LT and RT and then press the left or right D-pad buttons to make objects bigger or smaller

The MoveObjects cheat in The Sims 4

With the MoveObjects cheat enabled objects can be moved and expanded into places that they shouldn't go. For example, placing toilets in swimming pools!

To use this you first need to open the cheat window:

On PC hold CTRL and Shift, then press C
On Mac hold Command and Shift, then press C
On PlayStation and Xbox hold all four shoulder buttons at once

Now you just type bb.moveobjects followed by Enter.

Note: when making use of this cheat you may find that Sims are unable to interact with the item in question. You should consider this cheat for designing things in ways that you otherwise wouldn't be able to.
