ProFootballTalk's Chris Simms has a beef with ESPN and the SportsCenter Instagram account, apparently over using his words about Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts against him in their posts.
Simms was asked about the feud and his choice words for the network on a recent edition of his podcast by Dan Patrick on the former SportsCenter anchor's radio show Wednesday. Simms acknowledged that he can rattle off some bad hot takes, but he didn't feel like what he said about Hurts and the NFL MVP race was particularly egregious.
"I know I'm wrong sometimes. I get that. I have to make comments and opinions about every subject in football. So I'm gonna be wrong I understand that," Simms said. "And I have great respect for Jalen Hurts. All I was saying was I didn't think he deserved to be in the MVP conversation with Mahomes and Burrow and Josh Allen."
Simms said he thought it was interesting that since Hurts has been kept out of the last two games with a shoulder strain and the Eagles have failed to lock up the NFC East and the top seed in the playoffs, that ESPN has been silent about trying to keep using his words as ammunition.
"All I'm saying is buck up and then bring me on and talk, or give me credit the first week," he said.
Patrick suggested that maybe Simms should make the short trip from Stamford, Ct. where NBC is headquartered to ESPN HQ in Bristol and try and talk to someone about it. Dan even asked if Chris would have someone from ESPN on his show or podcast, but Simms said it's never that easy with people from The Worldwide Leader.
"You know how SportsCenter and ESPN is they don't let any of their employees talk to anybody ever. So I can't deal with it," Simms said. "But I'm not the kind of guy that's just gonna sit back and let them slap me around. You know me well enough now."
