Thanksgiving is right around the corner as the calendar turns to November, but News/Talk KTSA in San Antonio is getting a jump start on the holiday.
The radio station raised a record $163,893 during its annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner radiothon Friday, October 21.
KTSA's money raised will feed over 25,000 seniors and needy people on Thanksgiving Day. The Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner is the country's most significant dinner of its kind.
"The record year's success was attributed to the combination of the loyal listeners that generously supported the event, the class act Raul Jimenez family and volunteers and the unwavering support of station clients and sponsors, along with the best in class Alpha Media team," Radio Online wrote.
Kicking off at 5 a.m., there were various moments throughout the day that led to multiple donations, such as KTSA weekend host of "The Home Improvement Show," Martin Bomba, was challenged to sing if a $500 donation was made, which did.
