After months of talks, which even resulted in the legal system getting involved, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is finally in charge of Twitter.
Like any takeover, whether it's business, sports, or tech, a new regime means changes at the top, and Musk didn't wait long to begin molding Twitter into his vision.
Axios reported on Thursday that Musk fired CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and general counsel Sean Edgett. Additionally, he removed Vijaya Gadde, Twitter's longtime head of legal, policy and trust.
In his first remarks since finalizing his Twitter takeover, Musk tweeted just before midnight Thursday: "the bird is freed." Musk has also used the platform to reach out to advertisers to calm any concerns they might have as he takes over the social media outlet.
"That is why I bought Twitter," Musk said. "I didn't do it because it would be easy. I didn't do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love.
"And I do so with humility, recognizing that failure in pursuing this goal, despite our best efforts, is a very real possibility. That said, Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!"
