How do I speak to a person at TalkTalk?

Trying to get hold of a human at TalkTalk to help with your problem or query can be frustrating. So here are a few ways to speak to a person at TalkTalk and keep your sanity.

Telephone

The best way to actually talk to a person at TalkTalk is to phone them. You can call them free of charge from your TalkTalk phone on the following number:

0345 172 0088

If you can't use a TalkTalk phone, then be aware that there may be charges. The helpline is open seven days a week from 9am to 7pm and deals with any issues or queries connected with your TalkTalk phone line, broadband, TV or mobile.

Like many companies, TalkTalk has wised up to people gaming the automated telephone system, so there's no way we know of pressing a magic button combination that's going to get you instantly through to a human being. I attempted various shortcuts – pressing zero, hash etc. – that I've learnt over the years, and none of them worked. It does jump you to another stage of the automated process, but you go through more steps than just answering the questions TalkTalk's bot asks!

If you can't be bothered to wait on the support lines, it may be worth trying one of the other options below.

Live Chat

If you don't want to spend all day on the phone, then Live Chat is another great way to contact TalkTalk. A live chat is similar to texting, but you do it on TalkTalk's website. While you may still have to wait, it's usually quicker than calling, and you can get on with other things while you chat. You can also keep a log of what was said, which may be helpful if TalkTalk doesn't do what it promised.

The downside of Live Chat is that it needs the internet to work. If yours is down, it may be better to phone or use another connection such as your mobile broadband.

Text Relay

TalkTalk also provides a text relay service if you have difficulty using the phone because of a hearing or speech problem. This service gives you text-to-voice or voice-to-text translation.
