It's a year late, but since the launch of the Windows 11 2022 update it's been possible to install apps from the Amazon Appstore. How to install the Amazon Appstore
Open the Microsoft Store and search for Amazon Appstore.

Depending on your Windows configuration, your machine will go through either a two- or three-step process. The Amazon Appstore functions via the snappily titled Windows Subsystem for Android, but the installer will sort this out for you. We ran this process on two test machines and one required a restart whilst the other didn't. On the rebooted machine, we had to go back to the Microsoft Store and restart the process.
After a few moments of wrangling, and possibly a restart, the Amazon Appstore will be ready for launch. Windows 11 treats it like any other app, so it should appear in a prominent position on the Start menu. Launch the Amazon Appstore, then sign yourself in with your Amazon account details.
Installing an app is as simple as clicking Get. Once an Amazon app has been downloaded, Windows 11 treats it like all the other apps. It can be dragged, pinned and when it's launched, the Windows Subsystem for Android runs seamlessly in the background. It works rather well.

You're right. The Amazon Appstore has fewer titles available than the Google Play Store, so it is possible that your favourite Android app is missing. Amazon is always expanding its library and hopefully new additions will become available in the Amazon Appstore in a timely manner.
