Still, the CNN anchor declined the request leading to the president skipping the interview.  Many in the news media, including "The View's" Alyssa Farah Griffin, applauded Amanpour's decision to walk away from the interview rather than wear a hijab.  "Iranian President Raisi demanded @amanpour wear a headscarf for their scheduled interview," Farah Griffin tweeted.  "In a powerful display of solidarity with the women of Iran, she declined, & he refused to do the interview. Stand with the women of Iran & say her name #MahsaAmini. This with Amanpour would have been Raisi's first interview after protests are sweeping Iran with women burning their hijabs after the death last week of Amini, following her arrest by the "morality police."
