Greatness in the radio business is dictated by two things: Longevity and consistency. WBEN's Susan Rose is the epitome of both. On Tuesday, Rose's commitment to her career and the industry paid off when she was officially inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Rose began her career with WBEN in 1985 after getting her start out of college at a small station in Lockport, New York. She currently co-hosts "A New Morning" with her partner, Brian Mazurowski.
Rose told WBEN host David Bellavia that she made the most of her opportunities early on.
"I was hired back in the 1980s by program director Jim McLaughlin, and he literally took a chance on me," said Rose. "Once I arrived and fit in, I never wanted to leave."
In a release, Katie Morse of WKBW-TV, president of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association, said this year's class is packed with talent. "We are honored to recognize each inductee's achievements and welcome them into the Hall of Fame."
The list includes 13 active or former Buffalo media members, including one special inductee, Emmy award-winning actress/comedian Lucille Ball who died in 1989. Ball was inducted for her many contributions to the television broadcasting industry.
