FOX Sports announced the team of announcers that will call games for their top NFL broadcasts. As another top booth gets claimed, Drew Brees remains without an opportunity.
But despite not being picked for the number one booth at ESPN, NBC, FOX or Amazon, Brees is likely to turn up somewhere.
FOX Sports Radio host LaVar Arrington doesn't feel that way, and his comments about Brees circulated social media and eventually made their way to Pat McAfee.
McAfee on Tuesday said he couldn't believe people would think Brees will end up jobless for 2022.
"I think people are outrageous to say that this is his last opportunity," McAfee said. "It's like, is Drew Brees dying next year?"
Considering the football brain that Brees possesses, along with his accomplishments as a player, it's clear the New Orleans Saints legend would be a valuable contributor to any network broadcast team. McAfee was surprised some networks hadn't rolled out the red carpet for Brees.
"It is fascinating that Drew Brees hadn't just been handed a massive set of keys to whatever car he wanted to get into," he said.
Pat went on to bring up former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten and how he ended up calling Monday Night Football after retiring the first time and not having any prior TV experience. He said it's amazing how Brees didn't get similar treatment.
"Jason Witten, hell of a football player, great person and everything like that, but he was just handed the third-biggest game of the week, second-biggest game of the week, just, 'Nope, here ya go,'" he said. "I am vastly confused about how this has all unfolded for Drew Brees."
