This past week, CNN's streaming service CNN+ went offline a month after its launch. After the WarnerMedia and Discovery merger, the platform was the company's first major decision as Warner Bros. Discovery.
CNN+'s downfall was one of the topics comedian and "The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah decided to poke fun at the service's demise during the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which he was emceeing.
"Apparently, Jeff got fired after he tried to keep his workplace relationship a secret," Noah said, referencing the relationship with a colleague that former CNN President Jeff Zucker failed to disclose.
"Which is weird because if he didn't want anybody to know about it, he could have just made a show about it on CNN plus. I know, I know," Noah continued. "It's so sad. CNN plus: Gone, but forgotten."
Furthermore, the Comedy Central host further joked about the streaming service's demise, highlighting the amount of money the network sank into this now failed venture.
"Three hundred million dollars!" He said. "Do you understand how much money that is? I mean, I do get it. Streaming, they say, is the future. You know, as the old saying goes: you gotta to spend money to make sure Chris Cuomo doesn't get in a wrongful termination lawsuit."
