NBC News is reportedly taking steps to address multiple instances of plagiarism. According to Mediate, the company said articles written by an unidentified reporter did not meet quality standards.
"The articles contained passages from other news organizations that were used without attribution," the statement read.
The network did not identify the reporter who allegedly committed the acts, but the reporter was named by a source as Teaganne Finn. The network said Finn is no longer with NBC News.
According to her LinkedIn, Finn has served as a political reporter at NBC News and boasts of being an alumna of Bloomberg News.
NBC News said passages from the plagiarized stories "contained supplemental or background material that did not represent original reporting."
"An editor's note has been placed on each of the articles, and the passages that were plagiarized have been removed," the statement read.
The network reiterated that the trust of readers and viewers is essential to its success. "Our work must always meet the highest standards of our profession."
The source said that this was the "first known instance of an incident of this nature occurring at NBC News."
