Google has been slowly introducing changes to the Google Mobile Services ecosystem. A large part of the ecosystem comes through the Play Store, and the company had announced a few months ago that it will retire the Movies & TV section from the app as a part of its restructuring.
Now, that restructuring has finally started as the Movies & TV tab from the Play Store has started disappearing for some users. That doesn't mean Google is removing the ability to buy or rent movies and TV shows from its ecosystem. Instead, the whole section is being merged with the Google TV app.
If you've purchased video content through the Play Store, it will be available through the Google TV app. It will also keep a track of your wishlists. Moreover, it will also curate content from other video streaming services such as Disney+ and Prime Video, and you can watch content directly through the app.
The Google TV app also features a remote control feature for all Android TV and Google TV devices, including streaming boxes, sticks, and smart TVs. The removal of the Movies & TV section makes the Play Store look simpler. Have you noticed this change on your Samsung phone or tablet?
