The big news story of the day on Monday was obviously Elon Musk successfully purchasing Twitter. On 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston, Scott Zolak and Marc Bertrand offered reaction to the news.
Bertrand said no one in sports media can leave the platform, even if they are outraged by Musk. It has evolved into a go-to source for the audience to get the latest information.
"It's essential for us," he said. "That's how sports news breaks, that's how news breaks. It's instantaneous - bang you get it. I go to that more so than reading papers."
The whole crew talked about what kind of value could be coming to Twitter now that Musk is in control. But the discussion did circle back to the sports world and just how vital Twitter is to it.
"For years now, you watch on other mediums. What do they cite? A tweet," Bertrand said. "Sometimes it's an Instagram post from somebody. But when you want quick, immediate interaction with your audience, it's Twitter."
