There's a method to the madness of Skip Bayless.

Bayless, who has had notorious debates opposite ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and now sits across from Shannon Sharpe on FS1's Undisputed, said he jots down notes about a particular subject and thinks of every single counterargument that can be made against his stance.

"I need to write down all my thoughts on a topic and then I need to write down all the ammo I'm gonna need to win that debate," Bayless said answering a viewer/listener-submitted question on his podcast The Skip Bayless Show.

Bayless said it doesn't stop with just writing everything down. He also studies the notes and makes sure everything is seared into his memory.

"I memorize it by writing it in case I need it," he said. "So hopefully I've written down every conceivable move I'm going to have to make against Shannon in a debate. I've scripted it out so that it will be emblazoned in my flash memory if I need to reach for it."

It sounds like a daunting process, and it likely is. But Skip Bayless has been doing this for so long, he said he's probably taken millions of notes over thousands of days throughout his career as a columnist and reporter.

However, don't expect any prep he does for a show to stay on his mind once that particular day's episode finishes.

"I'll remember maybe half of it by tomorrow," Skip Bayless said. "And in 48 to 72 hours I'll remember maybe a fourth of it and by next week I won't remember much of it at all."
