ESPN's Michael Eaves had the job of interviewing many of the top golfers playing in The Masters this past weekend. Of course that meant he got to talk to Tiger Woods immediately after his rounds.
Eaves was asked by Dan Patrick on Friday how he prepared for the interview after Tiger's opening round at Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday. Eaves said it wasn't all that hard to get ready.
"I knew what I was going to ask him the first question, and then based on his first answer, I was hoping my second question would still apply," Eaves said. He added he knew what that first question was two hours before. "But because we've known so much about him and the story, it was pretty obvious what we wanted to get out of him."
Eaves went on to talk about the Tiger storyline coming into The Masters and why Tiger's return was so meaningful.
The interview, albeit brief, left Eaves with no regrets.
"I didn't leave that interview thinking, damn I should've asked him this, or I wish I could've gotten one more thing out of him," he said.
Some on social media wondered if Michael Eaves had offended Tiger Woods with his final question. The golf legend seemed to quickly shut down a question about what he needed to do to be ready for his second round. Eaves says that wasn't the case at all, reminding Patrick and his audience that he wasn't the only one waiting to talk to Tiger.
"He already knew what his requirements were so he was like, alright Eaves, you got three, let me move on to (Cara Banks of Golf Channel/Sky Sport)," he said. "So I wasn't like totally shocked he kind of shut it down with that last one."
