94 WIP host Joe DeCamara wants to just give his opinion straight and wants listeners to do the same. He's not entertaining hot takes.
Answering a listener-submitted question on his show Wednesday, DeCamara said he hates the word "take" as pertains to controversial opinions on sports radio and television.
"The issue with it is people, especially young people, they go too far with the hot take. 'I gotta have a hot take!' 'I gotta startle people!'" he said. "How about you just give me your opinion, whatever it is, and then people can react whatever your opinion is."
Co-host Jon Ritchie and producer James Seltzer just couldn't wrap their heads around DeCamara's issue with using the word.
"I just hate this whole take thing," DeCamara said. "It's the way it's utilized in society and what it represents that bothers me, but go ahead."
DeCamara said hot takes are bad for sports radio.
"It represents people stretching the bounds to shock people," DeCamara said.
