We'll soon know the matchups in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, with the regular season ending later this week.
Boston Bruins fans are anticipating a first round matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes. The Bruins will likely be one of the wild card teams in the Eastern Conference, taking on the Metropolitan Division champion Hurricanes.
With the writing on the wall, Fred Toucher on 98.5 The Sports Hub was reminded of the time he was challenged to a fight by Kyle Bailey of WFNZ in Charlotte.
Toucher said this was being brought up before anybody else could bring it back up.
Back in 2019, the Bruins and Canes met in the playoffs. Hurricanes beat writer Chip Alexander was a guest on Toucher & Rich at the time. The show hung up on Alexander after Toucher joked he couldn't stand to hear people with a Southern accent talking about hockey. He also said Wednesday hearing the clip played back that Chip was being boring.
That didn't sit well with Bailey, who used time on his show to address the incident. The Toucher & Rich crew listened to audio of a follow-up rant and challenge.
"Now he does do the show from a tree fort, and no girls are allowed," Toucher said joking about the tag that played for Bailey's show The Clubhouse.
The whole incident was rehashed, and at the end of it, Toucher said if Bailey still feels that way about the whole thing, the two can still meet up and settle things.
"Kyle Bailey if you want to fight me, and you want to come to Boston and fight me, I will fight you," he said. "And I'll tell you exactly where I'll be. Anytime you're in Boston and want to fight, I'll fight you."
Toucher's main issue was over how Bailey's producer got Toucher's phone number. When Bailey heard about what happened with Alexander, Bailey wanted to book Toucher for a segment. But where things went south was when the producer wouldn't say who gave out Toucher's number. Toucher apparently cursed at the producer, the producer blocked Toucher and then notified Bailey of what happened.
"You started everything. You bothered me. I didn't bother you," Toucher said. "I hung up on one of your hick writers. Big deal."
