Travis Thomas said he had teased his audience long enough before making a big announcement about the future of his show on The Team 980 in D.C.

The former NBC Sports Washington host revealed Wednesday that he was making a career move and getting back into the TV business.

"I'm shipping off to Boston," he said. "I'll be covering all things up there, all the teams in the New England region, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, and the Red Sox."

Thomas, 40, said his last show on 980 will be this Friday, adding that these final two shows this week will be about showing love from his end to the listeners who have supported the show over the last year.

"These next few days I want to make sure I let all of you know the impact you've had on my life this past year," he said. "I want to celebrate what WE have been able to accomplish together since I've started here.

"You all made me a better broadcaster and a better person. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I've been blessed with, so I don't want a somber send off. I mean, my God, my producer was just 'Griddying,' for God's sakes, all over the studio."

That producer, Anthony Haynie III, shared the reason he busted out Justin Jefferson's touchdown celebration at the start of the segment was a way to show his own respect and celebrate Thomas. The two shared a nice moment as Haynie talked about how Thomas made him better over the last year.
