Familiar brands Villanova, Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke advanced to the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. But the biggest story of this year's tournament has been Saint Peter's.

The Peacocks from Jersey City, New Jersey captivated TV audiences with upsets of Kentucky, Murray State, and Purdue on their way to the Elite Eight.

Ratings for the Peacocks' Sweet 16 win over Purdue on March 25 made it the most-watched Sweet 16 game on CBS since the 2011 matchup between Kentucky and Ohio State, according to Sports Media Watch. An average of 10.18 million viewers tuned in, higher than 2014's Kentucky-Louisville game.

Sunday's Elite Eight contest against North Carolina saw an even higher audience average of 13.58 million on CBS, making it the most-watched game of the weekend. But it didn't stack up against previous regional final games in the same time slot.

Saint Peter's-North Carolina was the least-watched Elite Eight game since 2016, when the Tar Heels faced Notre Dame. But that game was in a later time slot and aired on TBS.

Of the four rounds already in the books, Saint Peter's played in two of the three most-watched games. The second-round matchup between Michigan State and Duke is the other contest.
