Samsung took to its virtual stage on February 9th to show off its latest flagship devices, including the new Samsung Galaxy S22. The hour-long event shows off three new handsets and a tablet, all built on recycled ocean-bound plastics that fit into the Samsung ecosystem.

Samsung Galaxy S22 & S22+ // Overview
If you missed the surreal amount of leaks in the lead up to this Unpacked event, then you did better than most. Images, specs and accessories were widely available ahead of the launch. However, Samsung has again delivered a spec boosted model compared to last year's smartphone.
Although, if you watch any of the commercials for the Galaxy S22 & S22+, you'll think Samsung had just released a new point and shoot camera that makes calls!
Same Outside, Better Inside
The shape and design are very similar to the S21/S21+ handsets, but there are differences, notably smaller displays.
Admittedly, both models have only reduced by 0.1", but it's not a direction most manufacturers take with a screen. At 6.1", the Galaxy S22 is the smallest of the three new handsets in the S22 range but with edge to edge display and the super-thin bezel, users will not be missing that 0.1".

Samsung is disguising the near-identical shell with some new colourway options. Each model comes in four colours as standard (pictured above) and has four Samsung Online exclusive colours, including Graphite and Sky Blue options.
New Main Camera
Pro-Grade camera quality is the big promise with significant upgrades to the primary rear camera, which now has a triple 12MP Ultra Wide, 50MP Wide, 10MP Telephoto configuration backed up with a 30x Zoom. The 50MP lens will let in more light and offer a better resolution for your images.
Video capturing also improves with better image stabilisation, video digital image stabilisation (VDIS) and Super HDR, all backed up with a new feature called Nightography.
Use the 10MP front camera at night, and Samsung says the S22 and S22+ will deliver clear and bright selfies thanks to Nightography. And, if Snap is your app of choice for social connections, Samsung has teamed up with the app to get the most out of the S22 series when using Snapchat.
Each handset comes in either a 128GB or 256GB option and have 5G as standard.
