The football world was shocked to learn of the passing of former Super Bowl champion coach and legendary broadcaster John Madden this past December.

Madden's family held a private memorial service shortly after his passing. But plans have now been revealed for fans to gather and remember the Hall of Famer and video game icon publicly.

The NFL announced on Monday that a celebration of Madden's life will take place in Oakland at RingCentral Coliseum on Feb. 14, the Monday after the Super Bowl, at 5:30 p.m. PT.

The Raiders moved to Las Vegas for a brand new stadium following the 2019 season, but Oakland is where Madden coached. So the family felt it was only right to have Raider Nation gather there.

"It had been previously announced for February 15th," the Madden family said in a statement (via NFL.com), "but the Coliseum has been secured for one more Monday Night Football event!"

Fans wishing to attend the event will have to buy a ticket, but all proceeds will go to Madden Charities for the benefit of the John Madden Foundation. The foundation provides educational opportunities for the youth of Oakland.

Tickets will go on sale later this week.
