Super Bowl Sunday is known for the food at watch parties and among the most popular dishes consumed each year is chicken wings.

But there has been a documented wing shortage over the last year or so, making the game-day dish more expensive to come by in restaurants and grocery stores.

Over on CBS Sports Radio's The D.A. Show, co-host and producer Shaun Morash thought there was an easy fix for the shortage.

Host Damon Amendolara broke the news to Mraz in that moment. Unfotunately, that's not how it works.

"I was under the impression that when we make the wings, the reason we have so many, is we cut one wing off and it does grow back," Morash said (via The Big Lead).

"So unlike a gecko's tail, a chicken does not regenerate its wings in a couple months," D.A. said.

Mraz was seemingly shocked at the revelation, but happy to know wings just don't grow back.

"I learned something today, which is a goal of mine to learn something new every day," he said. "But I would say then that if we've got a shortage, get these roosters out there. We need the wings!"

I'm sure there are scientists somewhere working on regenerating chicken wings. But unfortunately it doesn't appear that the wing shortage will be solved anytime soon.
