Charles Barkley will have a larger role for TNT's NBA All-Star Game coverage later this month. The Hall of Fame analyst will call the showcase with Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller on Feb. 20 from Cleveland. Barkley will still be part of the Inside the NBA studio coverage of the event as well.
As reported by the New York Post's Andrew Marchand, Barkley will provide some more star power with Harlan and Miller for the All-Star Game broadcast, which no longer has the marquee name of Marv Albert on play-by-play.
Speaking of play-by-play, Brian Anderson will call TNT's broadcast of the skills competition on Saturday of NBA All-Star Weekend.
Though Anderson was believed to be the successor to the retired Albert as Turner's No. 1 play-by-play voice for its NBA game broadcasts, the network hasn't put anyone in that top role. Harlan is getting the nod for the All-Star Game and Marchand reports that will likely make him the choice for TNT's conference finals coverage.
Harlan also calls games for Westwood One on the radio and NFL games on CBS. His NFL on CBS colleague Ian Eagle also calls regular-season and playoff NBA games for TNT.
