The Manningcast has been one of the highlights of the 2021 NFL season. It makes sense that the league's commissioner would want to get in on the fan. Roger Goodell will finally do just that when he joins Peyton and Eli Manning to watch the Monday Night Football showdown between the Browns and Steelers.

Mike Florio noted that this is a chance for fans to see Roger Goodell consume a game just like they do. That may have an appeal to some, but given the steady ratings the Manning brothers have garnered this season, it is more likely most will view Goodell's presence as just part of the show they are coming to watch.

The game does come with a little added significance. In addition to being the final Manningcast of the regular season, Ben Roethlisberger has hinted that it could be the last time he plays a home game in Pittsburgh. Big Ben was part of the same draft class Eli Manning was and is now the winningest quarterback in the history of one of the two teams that share the record for most Super Bowl wins. That is an occasion worth making time for if you are the league commissioner.

It will also be one of the rare long-form interviews Roger Goodell does during an NFL season. The Mannings and ESPN are good soldiers for the league. It is unlikely Goodell will face any hard-hitting questions, but there could still be plenty of value. As players, coaches, and executives react to the NFL's changing Covid protocols, fans will certainly be eager to hear from Goodell directly should he address them.
