One of Chicago's iconic sports media brands has hit a major milestone. 670 The Score turned 30 years old on Sunday. Program Director Mitch Rosen posted a blog on the station's website reflecting on the station's beginnings and future plans.

"On Jan. 2, 1992, the Score was born. We were initially on a daytime signal, 820-AM," he wrote. "What does a daytime signal mean? It meant when the sun went down in the afternoon or at night, the station had to shut down. Yes, that's right – we had to turn the power off! Can you believe that? Look how far we've come together!"

What 670 The Score is today is very different and obviously, much more powerful. The station is now on a 50,000 watt stick as well as on the Audacy app. It also regularly streams content on various social channels including Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook.

Rosen writes that the celebration will continue all year for The Score. On air, listeners will hear new imaging and iconic sounds celebrating the brand's heritage. He also promises a big event in July "if all is safe". That event will pair iconic voices and teams from the station's past with the current Score lineup to celebrate the station's past and present success.

"I want to thank you all of you for being part of this iconic Chicago sports brand," Mitch Rosen concluded. "Without each of you loyal listeners, we wouldn't be here today!"
