A humanitarian crisis of unprecedented proportions is unfolding in Afghanistan, according to the World Food Programme (WFP).According to WFP, more than half of the population is hungry, and 3.2 million children are malnourished. Humanitarian needs in the country have tripled, according to the programme, and will continue to climb when the harsh winter sets in, driving towns to their breaking point.In Afghanistan, 22.8 million people endure acute food insecurity, according to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) assessment. Acute food insecurity is a crisis in all 34 provinces.Drought, conflict, and COVID-19 have put the country in a terrible situation, WFP said.
