A former Central Pennsylvania news anchor bid an emotional farewell last week following a 42-year television career.
Kim Lemon worked at NBC affiliate WGAL-TV. She signed off for the final time on Nov 24. Lemon began her career at the station in 1979 as a weekend weather reporter.
Lemon told PennLive that she felt the time was right. She cited technology as the biggest adjustment she had to make during her career.
"When I started reporting, we shot film," she said. "I had a camera -- you had to wait until the film was developed."
During her illustrious career, Lemon traveled the world and co-hosted a show called PM Magazine. During her travels, she hosted the show from Greece, Israel, Turkey, Egypt, Mexico, and Brazil.
"I met so many people, including Muhammad Ali," Lemon told the paper.
"In addition to her duties as a news anchor, Lemon also served as an emcee for countless Susquehanna Valley events, introducing the likes of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, William F. Buckley Jr, Colin Powell, and Walter Cronkite," the station said in a release. "When the state had its official day of remembrance one year after the Sept 11 terrorist attacks, she was asked by then-Governor Mark Schweiker to emcee the ceremony."
