Over the last few days, Facebook has been on the receiving end of negative publicity.

First, a former data scientist at the social media platform Frances Haugen blew the whistle on the company's practices during an interview on "60 minutes."

One of the many things she revealed is Facebook prematurely switched off safeguards intended to thwart misinformation and rabble-rousing. Haugen stated that "Facebook, over and over again, has shown it chooses profit over safety."

Second, Facebook found Mark Zuckerberg lost more than $6 billion due to the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp six-hour outage.

Stephen Colbert opened Tuesday's edition of "The Late Show," poking fun at the misfortunes of Facebook over the past couple of days. The comedian shared a short clip of actor Jesse Eisenberg reprising his role as Facebook creator from the film "The Social Network."

"This is the greatest generation," Colbert joked, "because [Monday], every single person in this room had to dig down deep within themselves and find the strength to make it through Facebook's six-hour worldwide [outage]."
