It was announced earlier this summer Peyton and Eli Manning will host an alternative broadcast of Monday Night Football on ESPN2. The ManningCast figures to give viewers at home a peak into a different type of booth that boasts a pair of quarterbacks each equipped with two Super Bowl titles, as well as a pairing that features a mix of love and vitriol harbored in their younger years under the same roof. On Tuesday, Andrew Marchand of The New York Post confirmed Michael McCarthy's report that no one else will join the Mannings in the booth, a decision reached by the brothers and the network.
Jimmy Traina of SI reported ESPN's own Mina Kimes and NFL Network's Kyle Brandt both tested as potential hosts, only for ESPN to ultimately decide to go with no formal host in the booth. The interviews make sense as the Mannings are football savants as well as notorious goofballs, and both Kimes and Brandt are capable of in-depth football coverage as well as lighthearted jovial banter.
Earlier this month, Kimes' former colleague Dan Le Batard tweeted after a bit of tequila that "they need to be smart and put (Kimes) in the Monday Night Football booth because (her) analysis is better than anyone's and no one cares more about football or is better on football than (she is)."
While not needing a host, there is no word yet on whether or not Archie Manning will be there to mediate.
