Triller Fight Club announced in a statement Tuesday they have signed former HBO boxing broadcaster Jim Lampley to a multi-fight contract, beginning with the June 19 event at loanDepot Park in Miami.
"It is an honor and a privilege to welcome the preeminent voice in boxing, Jim Lampley, to Triller Fight Club," co-owner Ryan Kavanaugh said. "We will blend all the best elements of music, entertainment and sports, and there is no one better to help lead our broadcasts for fans of all ages than Jim."
Lampley was the voice of boxing on HBO from 1988-2018, and still hosts The Fight Game with Jim Lampley for the network. He has also won three Emmy Awards, and hosted or provided play-by-play for 14 different Olympic Games spanning from 1976 to 2008. In his statement, Lampley said the ability to cover the upcoming fight between Teófimo López, (16-0, 12 KOs) and George Kambosos Jr., (19-0, 12 KOs) showed him the company was serious about its commitment to the sport.
"I am impressed that Triller Fight Club is aggressively seeking to put together the best telecast possible, and it is that mentality that makes Triller the best possible platform for my return to ringside," said Lampley. "This first telecast features Teofimo Lopez, conqueror of the great Vasiliy Lomachenko and an exciting new talent who has already made a historic mark on the sport. That says it all for me."
Triller is best known as the home of viral sensation the Paul brothers. The former YouTube stars have become two of boxing's biggest stars since turning pro. While some in the sport criticize the quality of competition, they consistently create conversation.
The night of fights will be the first ever at the ballpark in Miami, opened in 2012 predominately as home to the Miami Marlins.
