San Diego talk show host Travis Dale is sharing his journey to host his own show in one of the country's most desirable markets.

Dale, a Southern California native, who now hosts a weekend show on iHeartMedia's 760 AM, recently told the Times of San Diego that he never stopped believing that he could break into the business.

"I've always wanted to be one of those guys on the air," Dale said. "I've kept trying and it hasn't been easy."

Two years ago, Dale submitted a traffic and weather audition tape to iHeartMedia which operates eight radio stations in the San Diego market. "I had the support and blessings from my wife and kids to reinvent myself and try again to be on the radio," said Dale. "Finally, it worked."

Dale started hosting his own show in May called On the Daley, which airs on Saturdays from 2-3pm.

"It's a dream come true," said Dale. "I hope the audience finds it interesting and engaging. It's an hour when news, politics and pop culture all collide. It's a first step to a five-day-a-week gig sometime in the future. I'm very grateful to a lot of people who have believed in me and have opened doors for me."
