Kelly Stewart, or KellyInVegas as she is known to her readers and listeners, announced on Twitter that her contract with ESPN was terminated just a month into her tenure with the Worldwide Leader. The reason for the abrupt end to her time at the network is a handful of homophobic tweets in 2012. Front Office Sports confirmed the news with a spokesperson with ESPN.

Stewart owns Wager Talk and has contributed to Bleacher Report for the last couple years in the gambling space. ESPN had planned to feature her as a voice on Daily Wager as well as other podcasts, shows, and other roles across the network as they expand their footprint in betting.

"Having an experienced voice like Kelly Stewart join us better positions us to expand our sports betting content going forward," said ESPN senior coordinating producer Scott Clark, who oversees sports betting production at the time of her hiring last month. "She'll be an important asset to all that we are doing in the space, and like the rest of our sports betting team, she will be busy."

Awful Announcing reports that Bleacher Report, Stewart's former employer, was aware of the tweets as well and were equally unhappy. "Bleacher Report executives pushed for parting ways with her, but were overruled by Turner Sports executives."

Stewart explained on social media that while she regrets using slurs in her Tweets, she does not regret sending the tweets themselves.

"I don't regret standing up for myself against vile, threatening, and mysogynistic attacks from men threatened by a woman daring to attempt to make a living in the overwhelmingly male sports gambling industry," she wrote in her official statement.
