ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins is trying stay professional and take his job seriously.
Speaking to Andrew Marchand and John Ourand on The Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast, Perkins said he had his fun while playing in the NBA, but now that he's working in TV, he wants to be the best analyst he can possibly be.
"What I am now is an NBA analyst. And I want to take that career and make sure I put my all into it and do everything I possibly can to make this career better," he said.
Perkins mentioned he used to drink alcohol and smoke weed as part of his partying days. But he's since cut all of that out of his life. He has also adopted a regimen that allows him to be productive all day.
"Now that I'm in this space, I always say I'm gonna wake up, I'm gonna prepare myself, there's no shortcuts, no matter what I gotta do I'm gonna work through it," he said. "I stay level-headed, I lock in, I wake up every morning at 4:30 even if I'm not on television, watching other people around other networks as well, trying to be a student of the game from other areas."
